Dear Parents, We have finally arrived at the last week of our academic year!  Over the next couple of days, students will be wrapping up various assignments and assessments in their classes, as well as attending to a variety of "housekeeping" tasks that will allow us to bring the school year to a successful on Thursday. On Thursday at 11:00 a.m., we will be holding our annual Awards Ceremony in the Theater.  Parents are welcome to attend.  Please remember that Thursday is a half-day, so please make arrangements for dismissal at noon. For those of you already looking ahead to AY 2023-24, we will send out a letter on Wednesday that contains a list of supplies that students are expected to bring with them when we reopen in August. On a personal note, I will be leaving La Paz over the weekend to re-join my family in Rome.  It has been an honor serving in this interim post, getting to know our faculty, staff, students, and parents.  I have very much enjoyed wor...

Dear Parents, I am looking forward to all of the wonderful end-of-year activities and ceremonies that we have planned for this week and next.  One important thing to note for this coming Friday:  We will be moving Lunch up in the schedule slightly to accommodate Senior Farewell.  If you drop off your child's lunch at school, please note that Lunch will take place from 1:15 - 1:45 PM. Please remind your child to begin returning any borrowed materials as soon as possible so that they are free of obligations.  Usually, this entails the return of any Library books they may have taken out over the course of the year. This is the week when final assignments are due, so please ensure that your children are coming to school well-rested and ready to wrap up the academic year in their courses. Important Upcoming Events: Tuesday, May 23:  Middle School Sports Banquet, 3:30 - 5:30 PM Wednesday, May 24:  High School Sports Banquet, 3:30 - 5:30 PM Thursday, May 25: ...

Dear Parents, As you know, we have lots and lots of things taking place over the course of these final few weeks.  While I have done my best to capture as many of our end-of-year events as possible, that's only one side of the coin.  Over this week and next week, your children will be taking part in summative assessments (tests, projects, presentations, etc.) in their classes.   For many students, this can be a very stressful time of year.  We all want them to do their best, and parents have an important role to play by ensuring that their children's attention stays focused, for just a couple more weeks, on the work that remains to be completed.  This includes ensuring that they are in school on a daily basis, they have a healthy, balanced diet, and they get an adequate amount of sleep each night. Important Upcoming Events: Thursday, May 18:  NHS Fashion Show, 7:30 - 9:00 PM Friday, May 19:  Middle School Madness, 3:30 - 5:00 PM Tuesday, May 23:...

Dear Parents, As another week begins in the Secondary School, I would like to note that we are beginning to receive requests from families regarding time away from school for a variety of reasons, most prominently siblings' university graduations, tennis tournaments, and the like.  With final summative assessments and projects already scheduled in our classes for these last few weeks of the school year, I cannot emphasize enough the need for students to be in school on a daily from here on out.  Thank you for your cooperation! Important Upcoming Events: Monday, May 8 - Friday, May 12:  MAP Testing (Grades 6 - 8) & Week 2 of AP Exams Friday, May 12:  Music & Drama Performances Thursday, May 18:  NHS Fashion Show Friday, May 19:  Middle School Madness (G5-to-G6 Transition) Best wishes, Steve Augeri

Dear Parents, Welcome to May!  We are now firmly in the period that I refer to as "the home stretch", that time when you can count the number of weeks remaining in the school year on one hand.  It tends to be a tricky period to navigate:  On the one hand, there is so much excitement that comes from being able to glimpse the end of the academic year and the summer vacation that follows.  On the other hand, we must continually remind ourselves that there is so much to be done before we can all head off on summer holiday.  This is not a scenario that applies just to students; the adults are susceptible to this state of affairs as well. In my previous schools, I found it worthwhile at this time of year to remind students of the importance of finishing the year well .  Several weeks ago, I spoke with our Seniors about this very thing, telling them that it should be a goal of theirs to leave their audience wanting more.  In other words, conducting themselves...
