From the Secondary Principal

Dear parents,

We are excited to share two new initiatives designed to help build community and encourage growth in our middle and high school programs. First, this week students will attend the second of our monthly assemblies. Held in the Theater, these 30-minute middle and high school meetings provide opportunities to share information, showcase student learning, and encourage student involvement and leadership. Our high school assemblies are coordinated by the Student Council, and we will gradually involve students in leading the middle school assemblies.

The second new initiative is intended to provide one way to recognize effort and encourage growth in areas that aren't typically reflected in grades or GPA. Each month during the assemblies we will recognize a small number of students who have made noticeable effort or shown growth in the areas of compassion, teamwork, commitment to learning, creativity, or making positive connections with others. Not every deserving student will be recognized every month. Instead, we will identify just a few students during each assembly to receive the Illimani Impact Award. Selecting a few students each month will provide a more frequent opportunity to celebrate and encourage the growth of many students over the course of the year.
